An applicant can pursue any pathway they qualify for. The Talented Geniuses route is often the fastest for founders who ship consumer-facing software, since the qualifying evidence is the product and its public traction, not a minimum revenue threshold.

Application Steps
- Route selection. Pick Talented Geniuses, Entrepreneurs, or Specialized Scientists based on the strongest evidence you can present.
- Endorsement letter. Apply to the relevant UAE authority, ministry, cultural office, or an accredited incubator, and request the endorsement letter that unlocks the ICP application.
- Nomination submission. Submit the endorsement pack through the ICP or GDRFA channel, or via a recognized service centre such as Amer, Tasheel, or the Talent Pass Program portal.
- ICP review. The federal authority reviews the pack and may request additional evidence.
- Medical, biometrics, and Emirates ID. After preliminary approval, complete medical fitness and biometrics.
- Golden Residency issued. The 10-year residency is stamped and issued. Family visas can be filed immediately after.

Terms and Practical Notes
- The visa is issued for 10 years and is renewable. It is not permanent residency, and it is not a citizenship pathway.
- Any conviction of a serious offence can trigger revocation.
- Applicants working across multiple emirates should confirm which GDRFA office handles their application, since Dubai's process, run through GDRFA Dubai, is not identical to Abu Dhabi's.
For AI-focused founders, the Golden Residency is now less of a "prize" and more of a working infrastructure decision. It shortens the horizon for hiring, banking, and family planning, and it removes the recurring cost of employment-visa renewals from the founder's balance sheet.
