Winter vibes took over Ski Dubai as the UAE & KSA Alpine Ski Slalom Races wrapped up this week… and it was epic.
From November 2 to 7, over 90 athletes from more than 40 countries hit the slopes, making this the biggest edition yet! The international lineup turned the indoor snow park into a melting pot of talent (minus the melting part)
The championship was organised in collaboration with the UAE Winter Sports Federation, the Saudi Snow Sports Federation, and the Dubai Sports Council, a true show of Gulf teamwork and a shared passion for pushing boundaries in winter sports.
This fifth edition wasn’t just about medals; it was about building momentum for a growing winter-sports scene right here in the desert. If this is what regional cooperation looks like, we’re all for it.
The success of this edition may encourage more Gulf-wide events in snow and ice sports, potentially with rotating hosts among UAE, Saudi Arabia and perhaps other nearby countries
A new generation of Gulf athletes may also emerge from this, not just participating, but competing at high levels and representing the region on global stages.
For those in Dubai, events like this mean: more excitement at Ski Dubai; a greater chance to see international athletes in action, and maybe school or club opportunities for young skiers looking for a winter-sport path in a largely summer-city context.
