Meta expands NFT support to 100 countries on Instagram

Date:

According to Meta (previously Facebook) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the business is starting to expand the worldwide support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its photo and video-sharing platform Instagram.

The announcement comes after the social network’s initial NFT test launch in May 2022. Users and companies in over 100 countries throughout Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas will now be able to post their NFTs on Instagram as a result of this expansion.

Users may link a digital wallet to Instagram’s NFT capability, share NFTs, and automatically identify a creator and collector for attribution. Prior to the rollout, the support was only available to a restricted group of authors in the United States, according to TechCrunch

The business also announced the integration of two crypto wallets, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet, which are now accepted as third-party wallets. Instagram is also adding Flow to its list of supported blockchains.

NFTs can be shared in the main Instagram feed, stories, or messages. When they publish a digital collectable, it will have a shimmer effect and will be able to show public information, such as a description of the NFT.

Users must connect their digital wallet to Instagram in order to upload a digital collectable.
