Riyadh Air has officially opened its first premium lounge — the “Hafawa Lounge” —located between Terminals 1 and 2 at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

Spanning nearly 2,000sq m, the new space marks a major milestone for Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier as it aims to redefine premium hospitality in the Kingdom’s aviation sector.

The lounge is reserved exclusively for Riyadh Air’s Business Elite and Business Class guests.

“Hafawa,” an Arabic word meaning warmth and hospitality, encapsulates the airline’s commitment to delivering a world-class guest experience that reflects both Saudi culture and future-focused innovation.

Designed by the award-winning global studio Yabu Pushelberg, the Hafawa Lounge features limestone, oak wood, bronze detailing, and textured plaster finishes.

Its design draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s desert landscapes, evoking a sense of dynamic movement and boundless possibility. Wind-shaped, organic forms define the interiors, creating spaces that feel both monumental and intimate.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with authentic Saudi coffee and premium dates, a gesture celebrating the Kingdom’s timeless hospitality.

Business class zones

The lounge accommodates approximately 370 guests across multiple purpose-built zones, catering to diverse travel needs.

These include areas for rest and relaxation, vibrant social spaces, immersive digital rooms, fine-dining and casual restaurants, family suites, and private rooms.

Among the highlights:

  • The Café, serving freshly brewed coffee, artisanal pastries, and light bites
  • Buffet and Social Dining, offering communal seating and a lively atmosphere
  • The Social Lounge, a quiet area for conversation
  • Beverage Corner, providing premium non-alcoholic refreshments
  • Immersive Room, delivering digital experiences that reflect Riyadh Air’s digital-first ethos
  • Family Rooms and Private Rooms, offering personal comfort
  • Executive Dining, providing à la carte service and serene garden views

Saudi hospitality

The airline says it has seamlessly integrated innovation throughout the guest journey. From barrier-free access and intuitive digital wayfinding to interactive engagement touchpoints, the lounge incorporates advanced technologies designed to elevate the travel experience without losing its human warmth.

These features reinforce Riyadh Air’s position as a digital-first airline committed to shaping the future of global travel while celebrating Saudi identity.
