After the US President Donald Trump proposed the Gaza Peace Plan, backed by the Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, people were waiting to hear the response from Hamas in Gaza. It came in last night,
With the Hamas issuing a statement agreeing to release all Israeli hostages captured during the October 7, 2023 attacks
They also expressed readiness to hand over power to other Palestinian authorities.
Within the statement, the group also appreciated the efforts of the Arab, Islamic, and international countries in “ending the war on Gaza, securing prisoner exchange, ensuring immediate entry of humanitarian aid, rejecting the occupation of the strip, and preventing the displacement of our people.”
Soon after the statement was released, The White House shared a couple of posts. Trump announced “I look forward to having the hostages come home” and called for Israel to immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.

Middle East’s undenied attention was on the updates following the statement.
It caught global attention and became the trending topic of discussion on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), with over 71,000 posts within hours in the UAE.
UAE-based political science professor Abdulkhaleq Abdulla praised Hamas’ decision, calling it a moment of “raising the white flag.” Many others online echoed similar sentiments — expressing hope that this could finally mark the beginning of peace and an end to the two-year long genocide waged in Gaza.

Ever since the new developments, there has been news reports suggesting even Israel’s preparing to release the hostages.
Bombings still continue in Gaza
Dozens of Palestinians, including two children, have been killed in strikes hours after US President Donald Trump ordered Israel to stop attacks on Gaza according to a report by The National.
The death toll has now risen to 67,074 with 169,430 wounded since October 2023. These include at least six people who were killed while trying to get aid, as per local sources.
