Qatar has introduced new updates to its Hayya GCC Resident Visa (A2), expanding stay durations and improving travel flexibility for regional visitors ahead of a major year of sporting, cultural, and entertainment events.

The enhancements, announced by Qatar Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Permanent Committee for Managing Visitor Entry, are designed to create a smoother and more convenient arrival experience.

Under the new rules taking effect on November 30, 2025, GCC residents will be able to stay in Qatar for up to two months and enjoy multiple-entry access.

The changes are intended to make it easier for visitors to attend a full season of events and move in and out of the country through all points of arrival.

Qatar is preparing to welcome a surge in regional visitors for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup as part of a packed events season. The updated visa features are expected to improve mobility for fans attending matches while also encouraging longer stays for those exploring the country’s cultural and entertainment offerings.

Qatar Tourism said that, through the Hayya Platform, the country continues to ensure a seamless arrival process and strong operational readiness for major events during peak periods.

Director of Hayya, Saeed Al Kuwari, said: “These measures go beyond simple procedural changes. They reflect Qatar Tourism’s broader vision to strengthen the country’s openness to the region, facilitate visitor movement during major sports and cultural events, increase arrivals, and enhance tourism’s contribution to the national economy.

“They also reinforce Qatar’s position as a leading regional destination for tourism and international events.”

Operated by Qatar Tourism, Hayya serves as Qatar’s official e-visa digital platform, offering integrated visa processing and event access through a single, user-friendly interface.

By streamlining entry for GCC residents, the platform supports Qatar’s tourism growth ambitions and its positioning as a major hub for global events.

Visa categories

The platform currently offers five distinct visa types:

  • Tourist Visa (A1)
  • GCC Resident Visa (A2)
  • Visa with ETA (A3)
  • Companion of GCC Citizen Visa (A4)
  • Visa-Free for US Citizens (F1)
